Yesterday, I had the opportunity to take a little road trip to Opal, Wyoming. Have you ever heard of it? Probably not. Population: 97. It was so much fun though! Cami and I went with Rusty, his dad, his two little brothers, a mission companion and bro. It was a full day of adventures. Rusty picked us up at 8:30 to meet up with the rest of the road trip crew. We all piled into a Suburban and headed on the two hour drive to the little settlement of Opal. When we arrived, we helped brand Rusty's grandpa's cows and also his uncle's with a lunch break in between.
The "branding" process is a horrible day for these calves. I felt so bad for them. Not only are the branded (which looks extremely painful), but they get half their right ear cut off, tagged on the left ear, vaccinated and the males are castrated. It was pretty fun though helping out with it all. There was probably about 50 other people there. It was crazy how many people came out to help. The help was much needed though. There were cowboys on horses who would rope a calf and drag it over to the side. Then a few people would tackle the calf and hold it down by its head and back legs. Depending on how wild the cow was would depend on how many people were needed.
After the branding process, one of the cowboys was so kind to let me ride his horse. I got to help herd the cows. It was good to be on horse again! Then, Rusty taught me how to dirt bike. We didn't get to bike for very long, but it was sure a lot of fun. Then, we went shooting. I have been shooting before, but I have never shot little hand guns before, so that was fun.

| This is a pretty good representation of what went down. |

| Most of us got calf's blood on us, but this is MY blood! |
| I got stabbed by the castrating knife. It actually didn't really hurt because it happened so fast. I hope I get a sweet scar! |
| How cute are they??? Got their cowboy get-up on and snow boots. |
| So good to be back on a horse! It was a really good horse. |

What a wonderful adventurous day! I'm so glad that Rusty invited us. A big thanks to the Larson family for letting us come!
